Summary

We have all seen the Trump administration commit horrifying crimes against the American people, documented immigrants, and undocumented immigrants alike, up to and including the killing of Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and others.

Accountability for the crimes being committed by Trump and his administration can be achieved in at least two ways. One way is criminal investigations and prosecutions. But given that the acting Attorney General is Donald Trump's lapdog, criminal investigations and prosecutions very likely will have to wait until the rule of law comes back into the light of day at the Department of Justice in January 2029. But the second form of accountability involves congressional investigations, and congressional investigations are just around the corner. They will commence - after the Democrats take the House of Representatives back after the midterms.

There is a great nonprofit organization called represent us that is trying to keep the pressure on elected officials - members of Congress - with an initiative called the Congressional Courage Campaign.

I don't know if you saw this meltdown yesterday, but I, first of all, I know Chris always says, like, you know, reporters, you know, they have to have access. I'm like, access to what? Access to getting called an idiot now. That's basically way. He answers every question. You're a stupid person. You're a dumb person. It's twice as big. Those reporters let that roll off their backs. The reporters are stronger than that. Oh, my God. It's twice as bad, you dummy.

Yeah, we have to... Here's what I'm going to do with the Iran War. I'm going to paint it blue, just like the reflecting part, which will no longer reflect. Reflecting is bad. It can cause cancer, just like the windmills, because the reflection goes weir, we, and it kills the whales. So I'm going to paint the Iran. I'm painting it blue, but red for MAGA, but blue because we won.

So friends, looking back, I happen to believe that we blew the accountability mission. Our government blew the accountability mission back in 1974. When Gerald Ford

1:48.5

pardoned Richard Nixon for his crimes, rather than holding him accountable for the crimes

1:57.3

that he committed in violation of our nation's laws, crimes that in a very real sense

2:03.6

victimized the American people.

2:06.6

I believe we blew the accountability mission again in 2021 when Attorney General Merrick Garland did not get off the dime quickly enough to hold Trump accountable

2:19.7

for his crimes.

2:22.1

But remember the January 6th House Select Committee investigation and public hearings?

2:31.3

That is also a form of accountability.

2:37.9

Now, it's pretty clear that the Republicans in Congress today have no interest in conducting congressional investigations into the crimes

2:45.4

and corruption of Donald Trump or the crimes and corruption of his executive branch.

2:52.4

But with the midterms coming up, that's about to change.

Just ahead, Glenn plays a promo that explains how we can fight for justice and accountability.
