I'm continuing the series, Passover to Pentecost.

We talked about Passover two weeks ago on Easter. The title of this message you won't understand yet, but you will.

It's called according to the flesh.

We're going to be talking about the 50 days that Jesus, that's between Passover and Pentecost, Jesus was only over 40 days.

I want to read you some passages. I can't read all of them, but I want you to notice that the disciples did not recognize Jesus after the resurrection.

Then we're going to tie that into a truth we can apply to our lives.

So John chapter 20 verse 11, but Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping.

As she wept, she stood down and looked into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and the other at the feet where the body of Jesus had laid.

Then they said to her, woman, why are you weeping? She said them because they've taken away my Lord.

And I do not know where they've laid him. Now when she said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there.

And did not know that it was Jesus. That's really strange.

She'd been with him most believe the entire three and a half years of his ministry, but probably at least three of those years.

And she didn't notice him.

John 20 verse 19, then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, peace be with you.

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side, then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

You'd think walking through the wall would be enough to recognize Jesus.

Not until he even even spoke, peace be with you. They didn't say, then they were glad.

He had to show them his hands and his side. Remember, he had to do that eight days later with Thomas.

Thomas didn't say, my God and my Lord until Jesus said, touch, touch my hand, put your hand in my side.

Then he said, my God and my Lord, why didn't he say it right at first?

I'm just trying to tell you there's something different about his appearance.
