This is ACC panic room.

Welcome to the ACC panic room alongside Lauren Brownlow.

I'm Joe Ovius.

And I was 15 years old the last time Duke was 5 and 0 Brownlow.

I guess I was I was 11. Yeah.

When when you go back and you think about Fred Goldsmith and my understanding of Fred

Goldsmith when I got to the area in 1995 was that,

yeah, he was on his way out and that started a weird decline of Duke football.

And since that point, Duke football's had its weird ups and downs, right?

They committed themselves to turning the football program around when they hired David Cutcliffe.

The payoff was getting the ACC championship game where they lost to Florida State.

It didn't end well.

I think there's a parallel to what's going on at UNC to David Cuckliff with Mac Brown,

but we'll get to that in a second.

And with Mike Elko, they hired the right guy at the right time to add a bit of toughness to the Blue Devils and keep that thing going, which he parlayed into the Texas A&M job.

But Mike Alco did not beat Mac Brown.

Here comes many ideas.

A hire that I was kind of fascinated by.

Mani's track record at Miami wasn't exactly great.

I think he's a good defensive coordinator.
