Hello from Birmingham. One of the perks

0:07.4

are coming to these conferences is the stuff you get to do on the sidelines.

So yesterday I was mucking around with some virtual reality at the stand run by

0:15.6

Meta, the parent company of Facebook. And just now I've just been on a massive

0:19.7

building site, which will eventually be the Curzon Street station for HS2, the

0:25.7

new high-speed railway line. The builders invited some journalists to come

0:29.5

and have a look at their massive building site. It's pretty huge. There's about

0:33.7

200 people working on it, lots of digging, lots of pouring of concrete, and

0:38.4

they're having to overcome lots of engineering challenges like there's a canal

0:42.3

there. Oh there's a West Coast mainline there. Oh they've got to go over some

0:46.4

existing buildings. And these foundations have to just carry such massive

0:52.0

massive forces. Now seeing this as a political journalist, it's actually quite

0:56.3

cool because I've covered this story as a kind of theoretical thing. And it's

1:00.8

always just been sort of an idea. Now this is the first time I'm really seeing

1:04.8

up close. Shovels in the ground, building HS2. Anyway working progress, that's

1:11.0

quite a good description of the Conservative Party at the moment. So that's

1:13.8

enough train talk. Let's have some news talk in this episode of Newscast.

1:17.7

Newscast from the BBC. We will deliver, we will deliver, we will deliver.

Be on the back better. Blah blah blah, green economy. Blah blah blah. I've

1:27.8

absolutely apologised for using their words, scumbag. Enough is enough.

Has to love Easter. Baby. Funny enough it was tractors I was looking at.
