The person that we're talking about today is someone that you may have visited in Turkey and of course it's because there's an entire district named after him and I know that American Muslim is going to Turkey as we come kind of the thing. I feel like Valley Ranch is in Turkey half the time.

This is of course a place where you have many connections to Islamic history but in a very interesting way a connection to someone who is so uniquely tied to the Medina to Rasulullah,

and it's very interesting because even if you don't know much about any of the companions and especially this companion, you will associate one thing with him and that is that he hosted the Prophet's life when he came to the Medina.

And his entire identity surrounds this hosting the Prophet ﷺ in his own home when the Prophet ﷺ came to the Medina. And of course before we talk about any of his qualities, I want you to think about all of the amazing people we've spoken about thus far from the Ansar, from those people in Medina and the love that they had for the Prophet ﷺ.

You have born them in Hajar, you they love those that migrated to them, the sacrifices that they made, the hospitality that they made.

How special do you have to be for a lot to choose you amongst that group of people, right? Like if there was nothing else that you would say about him for a lot to choose you out of all of the Ansar to be the one to host the Prophet ﷺ himself in your home for months.

That says everything that you really need to know about this person and what quality he must have had with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and what Allah saw in his heart and as we'll see of course it is divinely placed.

The Prophet ﷺ did not choose the house of Abu Ayub al-Aliya Allah on him because it was the nicest house. He didn't choose it because of any type of reasoning but it was rather Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that chose Abu Ayub al-Aliya Allah on him to be the host of the Prophet ﷺ.

So first of all what's his name? Does anybody know his name? Any guess? And you can't Google. Abdullah that's a good guess but it's wrong but it's a very good guess though.

You'll get it right many times when you say that. Believe it or not his name is actually Khalid.

So the name of Abu Ayub al-Aliya Allah wa ta'ala was Khalid ibn Zaid, Khalid ibn Zaid. Of course we know that many people used to have a Kunya. A Kunya of course means the father of so-and-so or the mother of so-and-so even when they were children.

You know that one day they would have a child and they'd be named after that child. So he was named, nicknamed Abu Ayub very early on which was a common practice of the Arabs, the father of Ayub even though he didn't have an Ayub.

But his name is actually Khalid ibn Zaid ibn Qulayb, radiya Allah wa ta'ala on him. His father is Zaid ibn Qulayb, his mother is Zahra bin Sa'ad ibn Tays.

Now important to understand when we're talking about the initial introduction of Abu Ayub is actually his lineage.

And he's from the same tribe as umsulayim radiya Allah wa ta'ala on him, Umharam radiya Allah on him.

We talked about the aunts of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and they were the aunts of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam because they're from the maternal side of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

And that is benuna jah, benuna jah. So there's this one tribe in Medina, benuna jah that counts as the maternal side of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

Because the mother of Abdel Muttalib, the mother of the grandfather of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,

okay, the great grandmother of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was actually from this tribe of benuna jah.

Salama, the daughter of Hashem, the mother of Abdel Muttalib was from this tribe of benuna jah.

So the great grandmother of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is from benuna jah in Medina.
