A North Carolina Sheriff's Office announced a settlement this week in a lawsuit filed by the family of Andrew Brown Jr.

A black man shot and killed in his car by sheriff's deputies in April of 2021.

$3 million cannot bring back Andrew Brown Jr., but family attorneys say that that money at least ensures his children are taken care of.

And in Texas, the dramatic weeks-long manhunt for a convicted murderer on the run came to a violent end last week, leaving six people dead, including the fugitive.

This small town has been living in fear for the last three

weeks as this manhunt unfolded. And today, they're just absolutely horrified and stunned as to how

it ended. Read, before we talk about the news of a settlement in the lawsuit filed by the family

of Andrew Brown Jr. For those of us who aren't familiar with Brown's story, what happened back in April of 2021?

Andrew Brown Jr. was 42 years old when he was killed by Pasquotank County Sheriff's deputies

on April 21st of 2021. The deputies were reportedly serving drug-related warrants at his home

in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. When several deputies surrounded Brown while he was in his car, Brown tried to drive away.

That's when officers fired several shots at the vehicle.

Three deputies shot at least 14 times.

Most of the shots coming while Brown was driving away.

And Brown was killed when one of the bullets struck the back of his head.

An autopsy ruled Brown's death a homicide and also noted that he was shot in the right arm

and suffered wounds to his right arm, right thigh, and upper back.

And Andrew Brown Jr.'s killing set off weeks of protests in and around Elizabeth City.
