Welcome into first take her take podcast, El Duncan alongside Charlie Arnold and Kimberly

a Martin. We had grand plans for this podcast the first of the new year. I was going to marvel

at Charlie's back muscles after she posted some of her vacation pictures. I was going to ask

Kmart about her birthday and subsequent visit to wherever she was at this week with the NFL.

But none of that really seems to matter right now. It's all to her sherry because on Monday night

football we all the country the world it feels like at this point watched the worst case scenario

happen in real time. When DeMarre Hamlin who is a safety for the Buffalo Bills,

made contact with with T Higgins and what looked like just a normal every day hit. He stood up,

he collapsed 15 minutes later. They were doing CPR on the field to save his life. It was one of the

most horrifying, if not the most horrifying experience that I've ever witnessed as a viewer of sports.

DeMarre was transported to the hospital in Cincinnati where he is sedated. We don't know much

else other than that that he suffered cardiac arrest on the field. He was resuscitated. They

brought his heartbeat back. But of course we wait for any updates on his medical prognosis.

And while we can't speculate about the type of injury or player safety when it comes to injuries

because we don't know specifically what happened, we just want to talk. I see it on Kimberly A.

Martin's face. Someone who covers this bill's teams intimately. Someone who is a reporter.

Someone whose job is to be in the locker room to chronicle what the teams are going through.

And the chemistry they have together and what's happening surrounding the teams and I just see it

on your face, Kim Martin. I just want to know how you're feeling right now.

And like this is it's hard and it's not it was hard watching it. It was hard being you know one of

the reasons I love this job is I love covering football players because you never a lot of times you

don't see their faces aside from the quarterbacks. You don't know a lot of these guys.
