Hello and welcome back to Ume and the big C and it's a podcast that we never wanted

to record but knew that eventually one day we would have to. I feel a bit weird trying

to do like the intro's of who it is because then it makes her presence ever more felt but

it's Lauren, also known as Gov as Cancer, and we've got Blandei.

Hiya. Steve, Mr Steve Blande. Hiya. So this has been quite a week ain't it mate?

It has been quite a week. We should say we're not alone though are we Lauren? We have producer

Mike and producer Al on the mics as well. Are we doing Jents?

Yeah this is the same Al that we said goodbye to not too long ago but you know, Deb had to

go down on him getting back on. Yeah. I told him he'd never leave and I meant it.

Listen I should say before we start as well that we should have been in our lovely studio

and media city for this one but I currently have Covid so we are sat in my parents garden

under a gazebo and if you can hear the sound of wind is quite breezy. If you can hear the

sound of a plane going over we're under the flight path of Manchester Airport right

here and if you can hear the dog next door that's just the dog next door so yeah so those

are the noises as you may hear them. But also it doesn't feel very apt to have quite

a chaotic recording in honour of Deborah James. Well, yes.

Dame, sorry Dame Deborah James. The woman who was the queen of chaotic recordings. These

two would know more about that than us because they're the ones that had to put it together

when she botched her intros like for the twenty-fifth time. It's true. Where do we start?
