So I'm here today with my co-host, Jules Gil Peterson. So for a long while now, you and I in particular have been talking between the two of us

and sort of trying to think through ways that we can move some of our coverage here on

Death Panel of legislative and state attacks on trans life beyond the frame of being reactive

to current events, sort of be forward

thinking and forward looking.

And I've been thinking a lot about the last two chapters in health communism, about the

socialist patients collective, also known as SPK, and about one of the ways that SPK sort of described

some of their political project of political

education, of attempting to really use political education and sort of peer relationships to turn

illness into a weapon. And what SPK wrote is that this is really ultimately a kind of collective

process of translating happy unconsciousness into unhappy

consciousness with regard to really trying to understand like your life materially and what your

value really is in our political economy, where the capitalist state is built on layers of

extractive abandonment as a way of sort of cultivating and

honing ways of being able to critique and understand, you know, the systems and the bureaucracies

and the processes and the different types of ideologies that all sort of structure what we
