When you pray, do you feel like at times you're just giving a religious speech, almost like

you're making a presentation? I want you to know that prayer was always intended to be a conversation.

And not just any kind of conversation, the most intimate kind of conversation. As a matter of fact,

prayer in its very simplest form is simply a deep, meaningful conversation with your Heavenly

Father. The last time we studied in Mark chapter 14, we found the Lord's mandate to watch and pray. Now, I want to show you one of the

great methods of prayer. It's found in our Lord's prayer itself. In Mark

14 and verse number 36, the Bible says that when Jesus prayed, he said, Abba, Father,

all things are possible unto thee.

Take away this cup from me.

Nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt.

And the word I want to draw your attention to is the word Abba.

It's a very interesting word. It is not a word

that the Jewish people actually used. It's an Aramaic word. So the Lord Jesus, talking to his heavenly

father, speaks in the Aramaic language and then in the language of his own day and essentially

says the same thing in two different languages. Abba father. Abba meaning

father or papa. Literally papa father. One immediate application of this is aren't you glad that our

God hears in every language? Remember he's the one who created languages and so it doesn't matter what
