Summary

This episode is a follow-up to our recent episode, Abandoned on the Dalton, which featured rider Shilo Crane on a journey from Georgia to Alaska to raise awareness for mental health. That story took a turn when Shilo said he was left behind by his riding partner on the remote Dalton Highway, forcing him to continue the trip alone. But shortly after that episode aired, we heard from the other rider—Corey Speck—who says it was he who was abandoned. What unfolds in this episode may sound like a rebuttal, a clash of perspectives, or a story about hurt feelings and fractured friendships. But as you listen, you might find something more profound—maybe even a story of discovery.

It's not often on this show that we talk about mystery, deceit, controversy, not in a real straight-up sense.

0:07.2

However, today's may be an exception.

0:10.6

But when you listen to this story today, which on the surface is kind of a rebuttal, it's someone else's side to a story.

0:17.0

But as you listen to this, you may wonder if the point is really about the controversy. Is that what's

0:22.5

really about he said, she said thing? Or is this about something else? This is sort of a follow-up story

0:29.6

to one we did just weeks ago. July 10th, 2025 is when we did it. And if you didn't hear it already,

0:35.3

you might want to go back and listen to it. The story was called Abandon on the Dalton. Abandon on the Dalton was about a rider named Shiloh Crane,

0:44.3

who was riding from Georgia to Alaska and back. He was riding with a friend. The trip was about

0:49.6

raising awareness for mental health. Unfortunately, the trip didn't go quite as planned in that there was

0:55.7

some problems that arose between the two of them, small at first, but they eventually manifested

1:01.2

themselves to one point on the Dalton where Shiloh describes how his friend abandoned him on the

1:08.4

Dalton, left him there by himself. He ended up riding all the way back

1:13.2

home alone. However, shortly after that story aired, we were contacted by his riding buddy. The guy

1:21.8

that Shiloh said left him on the Dalton, except this other person, now we know as Corey Speck,

1:27.4

had a different story.

1:29.0

Corey says that he didn't abandon Shiloh, it was Shiloh that abandoned him.

1:34.5

Now, it sounds like this episode is going to be all about controversy and about rebuttal

1:39.5

and hurt feelings and not getting along, and yeah, it is to some degree but as you listen you might find

1:45.6

yourself hearing something else and maybe you'll be asking yourself is this a story about

rebuttal or is it about discovery you be the judge i'm jim martin this is I'm Jim Manico.
