60 seconds later, when Abigail and Jeremy walked into the computer room, he was already complaining.

What's the point of this? he asked. This is one of the many reasons that I don't normally let the

client watch me work, Abigail said. They ask too many questions.

For five dollars, I get to ask all of the questions I want, Jeremy said darkly,

sitting down in the office chair in front of the keyboard.

Abigail cleared her throat and pointed to one of the folding chairs off to the side.

Jeremy stared at her in pained disbelief for a moment, and then lifted himself out of the chair

apparently at enormous effort and allowed his detective to sit in front of the keyboard.

All the questions you want is much too open-ended.

Abigail smiled in a very professional manner.

This is only a 20-minute audition.

How about I just tell you what I am doing as I am doing it?

Jeremy grunted, but did not argue, and Abigail took that as a sign that she should

continue.

She opened an internet browser and clicked on the favorites menu.

"'You might not know this,' she said,

but a few months ago, mom and dad changed the phone service.

It comes in over the internet now.'

Jeremy frowned. He had not known this.

"'Is it a VoIP?' he asked. Abigail looked at him slightly cross. How much? she asked. A VoIP, Jeremy repeated, as if this explained everything. It stands for voice over internet protocol. Well, aren't you just adorable?

Abigail said sarcastically.
