How'd you wind up singing country music?

Well, my childhood, the soundtrack to my childhood is all country music.

That's all I heard from the time I woke up in the morning until the time the lights went out.

It's funny. You're from Northern New England, which I think people don't associate with country music,

For sure. But yeah, I would, I would, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' house.

In Wallingford, Vermont.

Spent a lot of time there.

It was a safe place for me.

And my grandmother would wake up in the morning,

and the very first thing that happened before an egg hit the frying pan or anything

was the country radio got turned on.

Wow.

And it was on all day long,

and the very last thing that got shut off before the light got shut off was the radio.

So, I mean, it didn't matter if I was going fishing with my grandfather or whether I was at the house.

If we were going fishing, I can still visualize the pile of eight tracks on the floor of his Grand Torino with the boat tied to the top of the car

and it was just, it was permanent.
