In power for nearly 14 years, Evo Morales was one of the longest serving leaders in Latin America.

Now he's in Mexico, after accepting an offer of political asylum.

He did so, he says, because his life was in danger. He resigned under pressure

from the military following weeks of unrest and allegations of electoral fraud. He's called

his removal a coup. Others have described it as a popular revolt

against a man drifting towards authoritarianism. Katie Watson has been charting the

unease in the capital La Paz.

When Evo Morales stood down on Sunday, it was one of those wow moments in Latin America.

This was a man who made history, Bolivia's first indigenous president, in a

region known for its inequalities, and let's be honest, historic racism towards

indigenous communities, that was a massive deal.
