Kristen Margaret Rossum was born on October 25, 1976, in Memphis, Tennessee, but spent most

of her childhood being raised in Claremont, California, as the eldest child of Ralph and Constance

Rossum. Both parents in academia, Kristen's childhood seemed

like the picture of suburban bliss. She was described as intelligent, vivacious, and beautiful,

enough so that she modeled for department stores as a child. However, despite doing so well in school

and being described so favorably, underneath the surface was a young girl who was introduced to methamphetamine when she was just a junior in high school.

Within weeks of that first hit, the 16-year-old was absolutely hooked, and the straight A student started sliding down a very

dangerous path.

Her grades plummeted.

She began losing weight at an alarming rate, and she began cutting off her family and any

friends who weren't part of her new circle of fellow addicts.
