Hello and welcome back to practicing human the podcast where every day we're getting a little better at life.

I'm your host, Corey Muscarra, and in today's episode we're going to talk about the relationship between a well-trained mind and happiness.

First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. Okay, so I'd like to start with a quote by the Buddha.

So a fairly simple quote, but I think periodically it's helpful to come across these things and to hear them again.

Because it really is giving us some power in how we show up for our own experience of this life.

And while there are many things that do go into the creation of misery and the creation of happiness

and much of that can be out of our control from our genetic disposition to cultural variables, community variables, all of these things

can lead to a certain internal experience. There is still a tremendous, tremendous amount we can do.

When we start monitoring, our mind, monitoring what it's thinking about, how it's relating to experience, what are some of our

deep beliefs. Do we have the capacity to focus, to cultivate stability? I still

think one of the most underrated experiences and pathways for happiness is just more concentration.

So many of us suffer because our mind is all over the place

and goes off into thoughts and and worries.

And it just feels like truth.

We mistake it as truth,

because it's just so much the water that we're swimming
