Last night it snowed. This morning I was bustling around getting ready for the day. Went to the gym. The gym is full of noise.

I got music going all the time, 20 TV screens, you know people using the machines and stuff. Not a restful place but a

place that is good for my physical health at least.

And then came home, took a shower,

get ready to go to my meeting,

got in the car, had a podcast on, parked to go into a coffee shop and get a little bit of breakfast.

And as I got out of the car, there was this lovely silence.

You know, if you live in an area where it snows, at least you know how right after a snowfall the snow kind of mutes all the sound it absorbs sound and I thought oh this is really nice. I need more of this. But I had to get on with my day, so I did.

And I went, got a pastry for breakfast sat and did a crossword puzzle and I went to my meeting

and at the meeting we talked about step three came now made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood

And thinking about how I hear from my higher power and what does that decision mean to me

But one of the understandings that I have come to,

step three is just making a commitment to continue to work the rest of the steps, to continue to work this

program of recovery in my life. And through that program I'd learn how to and maybe to some extent what is the will of my higher power, whatever that higher power might be.

And I don't have to, for me it's helpful to not have to define a higher power just to know that by making

that decision to continue working a program of recovery that I will come to understand what is best for me, what is the will of my

higher power, the guidance of my higher power for me.
