Well, today is what we call a very special podcast, just like those back-to-school a very special back to school special yes involving teen

0:24.6

pregnancy or drugs yes but today is here in the u.s um thanksgiving and i hope all of you are enjoying

0:34.9

your thanksgiving with your families, hopefully.

0:40.5

So we thought we would do something a little different. We're not going to recap any shows.

0:45.9

We're not going to talk about sister wives or some documentary. We are going to talk about

0:51.4

ourselves. And so one thing that we don't really do that much that a lot of

0:56.9

podcasts do is they tend to spend the first five, 10, 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes talking about themselves,

1:04.6

their lives, what they're doing, what's been going on. Maybe they'll talk about recent events or

1:10.0

pop culture, I mean, or, you know,

1:11.8

whatever it is that's going on in the world. And we don't do that that much for various reasons.

1:18.4

I think for me personally, being a therapist, it's always been a little strange for me to talk

1:23.4

about myself just because I've been conditioned so much not to talk about myself and not to promote

1:30.4

myself so much. And I also get a little embarrassed about it. It's probably one of the reasons

1:37.0

why I'm not a millionaire. I often think that as I try to build my business, which I've been

1:44.1

trying to do for the last seven,

1:46.4

eight years, I probably could be doing a lot better job of promoting myself. And I don't

1:55.2

toot my own horn enough. Maybe it's being a woman and, you know, growing up at the time that I did but I was always told

2:02.7

you know be nice and don't be full of yourself so yeah don't brag don't brag exactly which is the

2:07.7

opposite of what people do now like generations coming up now yes so total opposite we're gen Xers

2:15.3

yeah we were told not to brag and not to be full of yourself.

2:18.2

And then I went to grad school and was told you're supposed to be a blank slate and don't be a part of anything.
