Can you tell my audience who you are and what you do?

Sure, my name is Anne Lester and I am a recovering portfolio manager who is now trying to

talk to people about how to make retirement saving less painful.

What's a portfolio manager?

So a portfolio manager is someone who manages other people's money.

I spent almost 30 years picking stocks and

bonds and mutual funds in other people's retirement savings accounts.

Is that a necessary position? Well, it depends who you ask, I guess.

You know, I don't think it's as necessary now as it might have been when I got into the business

30 years ago. Right now, there are all kinds of platforms and

robo-advisors and you know online places, brokerage firms that you can build your own portfolio.

I would say for a lot of people having someone do some of the rebalancing and we can talk about that what that means in a bit is really helpful and when you I think individuals often get overwhelmed with information overload, so I'd say for some people,

depending on how they want to spend their time and if they find managing their money interesting or terrifying,

it can be really helpful to have someone else helping them and that could be a portfolio
