Summary

If you've been to any Disney Park or Resort, you know that Disney Cast Members are the ones who truly make the magic. From designing and building the places we know and love to operating and maintaining those Disney places on a daily basis, both on stage interacting with Guests and behind the scenes, Cast Members are the fuel that keeps the Disney magic alive. This year more than ever, I felt that the Disney Cast Members needed reminding of how much we love and cherish what they do for us every day. As a former Cast Member, my heart breaks for those who are no longer making magic and am hopeful that they will be able to return in 2021. In this bonus episode, we honor Disney Cast Members through heartwarming stories submitted by listeners like you. We'll go through about a dozen of these stories as a way of thanking the wonderful Disney Cast. What is your favorite Disney Cast Member memory (as a Cast Member or as a Guest)? Hello and welcome to the Imagineer podcast, your unofficial guide to all things Disney.

0:27.7

I'm your host, Matthew Krull, and you're listening to a very special bonus episode of the Imagineer podcast.

0:36.4

In today's bonus episode, I wanted to do something really special for cast members.

0:43.3

As many of you know, cast members this year, just like all of us, have been suffering in many different ways.

0:51.3

Park attendance has of course been as expected much lower than it was prior to

0:57.5

March and more than that there were thousands of cast members that were unfortunately laid off

1:06.1

this year and I sincerely hope that Disney is able to hire back thousands of cast members in 2021.

1:14.4

And if you're listening back to this in 2021, I hope we are in a much better state of the world

1:19.1

and a much better state at the Disney Parks.

1:23.5

Not only was I, of course, a cast member back in the day working at Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney's Animal Kingdom and then doing a bit of marketing work for Disney Vacation Club, but I also on every Disney vacation acknowledge cast members in any way that I can, even a simple thank you or a simple smile, things that let cast members know.

1:45.0

They're doing a great job.

1:46.0

I remember even going on Kilimanjaro safaris after having work there and whenever I would

1:53.0

get off that Tembo truck, I would always give a special thank you to the cast member and let them

1:59.0

know they did a terrific job.

2:00.0

They probably in most cases, probably every case actually, didn't know I used to work there,

2:04.9

but anything to make cast members feel special has always been something I've tried to do as best as I can.

2:12.8

And when I heard the news about the layoffs that came to Disney,

2:17.2

I wanted to find a way to use this platform for good, for the good, for cast members.

2:25.3

And I thought that one of the things I would always think about as a cast member is I would head to the Magic Kingdom on my day off or after a long day at work and I would

2:35.7

grab a scoop of ice cream or an ice cream cone or a Starbucks beverage or something from

2:44.4

Main Street and I would just sit down on a bench and watch and think to myself, look at all

2:50.4

the stories. Because at the end of the day, Disney
