Summary

We’re revisiting an episode from May 2021, where Trey examined the interworkings of a news cycle. Following a week where the United States faced growing troubles in Afghanistan, a gasoline shortage, a pandemic, and ongoing tensions at the U.S. Southern border, the media primarily focused on the ousting of Representative Liz Cheney from her post as the Chair of the House Republican Conference. Trey examined the media's agenda, and whether Americans should care about "the third highest-ranking person in the minority party." Follow Trey on Twitter: @TGowdySC Learn more about your ad choices. Our presence in Afghanistan is having the effect many believed it would have.

And I don't all for that as evidence. The decision was correct or incorrect but it is confirmation from what was suspected

which is that there would be consequences for reducing our presence there. And perhaps you think the consequences are worth it

I am concerned about what is happening in Israel because the language surrounding the conflict has changed in the past decade or so.

1:37.0

There is a more equivocation shall we say among some in politics about our or relationship with Israel.

1:48.0

And there are some who frankly seem to oppose Israel and their voices are louder than I remember them being.

1:57.0

I still wonder what it would be like to be in a country surrounded by countries who deny your right to exist.

2:04.0

I wonder what it would be like to be in a country surrounded by countries who promise to push you into the sea who threaten your annihilation.

2:16.0

And I wonder how many of us in this country would put up with an environment where we are surrounded by those who deny that we even legitimately exist.

It wouldn't just farm policy in the news there's also plenty of action states side as well the jobs report was not good and that leads course to a conversation about perverse incentives and the inherent value of work and human nature all of which is important but it is probably beyond my capacity short all of that out.

It was the cyber hack of a fuel pipeline by what appears to be a private group akin to the pirates of yesterday or it was an attack on the colonial pipeline and two things became apparent during the course of our inconvenience over that attack more than two things but two things kind of left to my mind number one is just how much we have that we from time to time may take for granted.

We turn a knob or a faucet handle and clean drinkable water comes out we flip a switch and power is generated.

We go to one of a hundred stores in our communities and food is present and normally normally we pull into the gas station and there's gasoline available and I mean it's rare for even a pump to be out.
