Washington, D.C. is preparing for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, but the circumstances will be much different this year due to the pandemic and the recent Capitol Hill riot.

Responding to heightened security threats, the nation's capital has a heavy presence of National Guard troops, some 26,000 on the ground, barbed wire and armored vehicles, all in hopes of maintaining peace and order during this transfer of power.

Meanwhile, following the vote in the House to impeach President Trump, the Senate is expected to hold an impeachment trial after the inauguration.
