Hello, I'm Mikey O'Connell, and this is I'm having an episode, which today is a late-season

check-in on one of my favorite television series, and arguably the longest-running cultural

constant in my life, Top Chef.

culinary competition since day one.

Some context.

When Top Chef premiered in March of 2006, Bravo was still months away from premiering its first Real Housewives franchise.

By months, I mean just like two.

But at this point, the network was programming based entirely on the respective

expertise of the guys on Queer Eye.

They were programming into buckets of food, fashion, fashion being project runway, beauty, design, and pop culture.

I can confirm that beauty was a thing because one of my first jobs out of college was ghost writing a blog for the judge slash brand ambassador of a hair sponsor.
