On last week's show, we talked about what's Love got to do with it, the 1993 Tina Turner

biopic based on I-Tina, the autobiography she wrote with Kurt Loder.

Turner was notably uneasy with that film for various reasons, and she gets the opportunity

to set the record straight with Tina, a new documentary on HBO.

Unfolding in five parts, the film covers the

ups and downs of Turner's life, from her difficult childhood and rural Tennessee, to her

awful relationship with Ike Turner, to her unlikely and wildly successful reinvention and

comeback as a pop star in the 1980s. It's also full of vintage performance footage for music

history buffs, and lots of evidence of Turner's creative genius and formidable drive.
