Good morning. It is Sunday, September the 1st. I'm Ali Velshi. We come on the air this morning

with breaking news out of the Middle East. The bodies of six Israeli hostages taken by Hamas during

the October 7th attacks have been recovered in Gaza.

Their bodies were found late yesterday in an underground tunnel beneath the southern city of Rafah.

According to the Israeli military, it appears that the hostages were killed shortly before the

IDF was able to reach them. They've been identified by the IDF as Carmel Ghat, Eden Yershalmi,

Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, Master Sergeant Ori Danino, and the American Israeli Hirsch

Goldberg-Polin. Goldberg, Poland was attending the Tribe of Nova Music Festival when Hamas launched

its attack. He was taken hostages along with many others.

He later became one of the most well-known captives,

having been featured in multiple hostage videos that were put out by Hamas.

In the wake of his capture, his parents were extremely outspoken

in their efforts to bring home their son and the other hostages,

even taking the stage at the Democratic National Convention roughly two weeks ago,

urging the immediate return of the hostages while pleading for the end to the bloodshed in Gaza.

Right now, in Israel, protests are unfolding across the country as demonstrators try to pressure the government

to close

a ceasefire deal that would likely see the return of the remaining hostages. Let's get right to NBC News

international correspondent Matt Bradley, who is live for us in Tel Aviv. Matt, what more do we know

about this? Yeah, well, we're now seeing these protests, as you mentioned, and this is going to be what could be one of the more blistering protests we've seen out of months of very strong protests coming from these hostage families.

And there's thought to be dozens of them still alive. More than 100 hostages are still remaining, though.
