Summary

Because Republicans and Trumpsters know they are unable put down their own suicide pills, they soldier on in denying women (the majority gender) their basic reproductive rights — and they continue making it so easy for mass killers to buy as many assault rifles as they want (according to The New Republic, American citizens have now stockpiled 400 million guns in their homes, more than the entire US armed forces, Dept. of Homeland Security, and all local police agencies combined). And women, young adults and people of color, by a large margin, hate the Right for making this happen. On top of all of that, Republicans tried to remove from office two young elected Black Tennessee House members for standing up against this gun violence, thus denying 175,000 Tennesseans their voice in the State Capitol. Millions of young voters have sent their anti-Republican memes and TikToks everywhere and they will determinedly continue their decades-long rejection of this old, stale, rotten Party.

In this episode of his Rumble podcast, Michael Moore explores the impending end of a GOP hell-bent on throwing themselves over a cliff.

Plus, he shares his thoughts on a profound evening this week with Joan Baez.

Let the joyous news be spread the wicked old witch had lost his day.

0:07.0

This is Rumble with Michael Moore. I'm Michael Moore. Welcome everyone.

0:32.0

The two things that happened this week, on Thursday, this past week, and these two events, to me, spoke volumes about where the country is at.

0:45.0

I'm actually in a good way. It also indicates that while we have a lot of work ahead of us, those that seek to stop progress, those who seek to take away the rights of women, of young people, they have lost and they know they've lost.

1:13.0

This is why I want to talk about what happened on Thursday. On Thursday afternoon, the governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, decided to have a signing ceremony for a bill that had passed both houses of the Michigan legislature.

1:31.0

The Michigan legislature is, you know, from me talking about this, because we passed a constitutional amendment in Michigan in 2018, passed by the voters at the voting booths in the state of Michigan to outlaw Jerry Mandering, to essentially make it a crime, and to demand that the maps of where we vote and how we vote are to be drawn not by politicians, not by parties, but by an independent group of non-partisan

2:01.0

citizens, with certain things built into how it's done so that no one group can carve up a map to benefit their party, especially in we're talking about the Republicans, a party that has fewer and fewer people voting for them.

2:23.0

And for some time in the state of Michigan, when people go to vote, they have been voting for the Democrats, the majority of the Michiganers vote for the Democrat.

2:36.0

And yet, the Republicans have controlled our house and our Senate. They've controlled the majority of our congressional delegation that we sent to DC.

2:47.0

So any election that has to do with a carved up Jerry Mandered map, the Republicans generally win those elections in states like Michigan.

2:58.0

In elections that are not about redistricting or carving up districts, like say for instance, the election for governor of the state, everybody votes for governor.

3:11.0

And you can't rig it by carving up a map so that you carve up the black community into three white districts so that it dilutes the majority of black voters who may live in a particular city or area.

3:28.0

That's how it's worked for a long time, long after the Voting Rights Act, Civil Rights Act, we still have a party hell-bent on making sure that black people and Hispanic people to a large extent, people who are not white to make sure that they don't hold much power.

3:50.0

And they've succeeded at it.

3:54.0

And there's really no better tell than in states like Michigan where we have a Democratic governor. Why since 2018 have the Republicans been in charge of one or both houses in the Capitol in Michigan?

4:10.0

Well, it's because of these Jerry Mandered maps.

4:15.0

Yet when the majority of Michiganers vote for the governor, the governor is a Democrat. The Attorney General is a Democrat.

4:25.0

The Secretary of State is a Democrat, the Lieutenant Governor is a Democrat.

4:31.0

When they vote for the U.S. Senate, again, a Jerry Mandered map can affect a Senate race because the entire state votes for their two senators.

4:40.0

So in the whole state votes in Michigan, we have two Democrats that we send to the United States Senate because the majority of people want the Democrat in office.

4:50.0

When we vote for President, we usually vote for the Democrat, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden.

5:03.0

The exception to this role was that Trump was able to win the state of Michigan in 2016 because, well, of a number of reasons, people in Michigan were not excited by the candidate that was on the ballot for the Democrats, Hillary Clinton.
