Today, an FDA advisory committee is meeting to discuss whether to give emergency approval

to the first coronavirus vaccine here in the US.

The American public demands and deserves a rigorous, comprehensive, and independent review of the data.

And that's what FDA physicians and scientists, all of us, career public health servants,

have been doing over days, nights, weekends, and yes, over the Thanksgiving holiday.

We have all been hearing about this vaccine, the one developed by Pfizer and Beyond Tech.

It requires two doses, it has to be kept at super cold temperatures,

it's apparently 95% effective in preventing people from getting COVID-19.

And it's looking likely that the FDA will say, yes, we can start administering this vaccine on an emergency basis,
