We're going to turn now to news from Capitol Hill and the ongoing threat to our democracy,

something we've been covering here on this program day in and day out.

There's been a stunning development in that decision by Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

It shows that in today's Republican Party, handing over sensitive security footage of

a domestic terrorism attack. That's how it was described by the sitting FBI director,

an attack that led to multiple deaths and hundreds of injuries for the law enforcement official

super-tective the Capitol that day.

It endangered the lives of the vice president and his family.

We all saw them run in every single member of Congress in both parties.

That footage is now in the hands of one of the most prominent conspiracy theorists in this

country and one who specifically pedals conspiracies about said domestic terror attack.

It comes at a time when the lies and conspiracies that fueled the attack in the first place

remain linked to a very active ongoing domestic violent extremism threat in America.

But to McCarthy, you know what it is?

Quote, a promise kept from the New York Times reporting on this development.

The Times spoke to McCarthy last night on his decision to hand over surveillance video

of the January 6 attack to Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Quote, I promised, Mr. McCarthy said on Wednesday in a brief phone interview in which he defended

his decision to grant Mr. Carlson exclusive access to the more than 40,000 hours of security

footage.
