Hi everybody welcome back to the Be There In Five Podcast. I'm Kate Kennedy your host.

Let me start by saying I know this is not about me in any way shape or form. I know that

the depth and duration of the pain and suffering among black people in this country is something

I can't nor will I ever fully understand because I can't understand something that I do not

live through daily because our job is not to tell other people how to feel about or respond

to their own experience. But my job is to talk to you and I don't know how to do this the

right way or I what I've learned over the past week would have a lot of us have learned that's

so pathetic but true is that it's better to speak imperfectly than to sit in silence for self

preservation and say and I go back and forth with how I need to do this and you know I don't want to

appear like I'm trying to be some sort of white savior give a cheesy motivational speech I'd rather

give the podium to a woman of color that can actually speak to this from the depths of their own

experience but when I sat here and thought about it it's typically me every week and it's

typically me that's fallen short of what I should have been doing and it's my thoughts and feelings

and actions toward anti-racism that I've neglected to share that I want to share with you now and

I will continue to share with you going forward this episode to me is less reactionary of like

long and publicly in recent years been these incredible activists that have made incredible
