0:31.0	And God uses stories in the Bible to teach us about himself,
0:34.3	about ourselves and about his kingdom. biblical stories teach us all the most
0:39.4	important things in life so God uses stories because he knows how much we love them. I don't think we appreciate
0:46.0	the beauty and the power of the biblical stories. If the Book of Ruth weren't in the Bible,
0:51.2	I think it would be a New York Times bestseller.
0:54.0	That brings us to Ruth Chapter 3.
0:56.6	First let's do a quick review of chapters 1 and 2.
1:00.0	In Chapter 1, God is at work in the darkest of times.
1:03.1	There was a famine in Bethlehem where Naomi and her husband, Alimalek lived.
1:07.8	In Deuteronomy we learned that famine is about a lot more than just crop failure from bad weather. It's about God's judgment against
1:15.2	Israel for violating their covenant with God. During the famine, the family went to Moab to look for
1:20.8	food. While they were in Moab, Naomi's husband, a limelike, and her sons
1:25.6	Malon and Killian married foreign women. And then about 10 years later, her sons died.
1:31.2	Naomi heard the famine in Israel was over, so she decided to go back to Bethlehem.
1:36.0	Ruth, who the book is named after, and is one of Naomi's daughters-in-law, returned with her.
