This is Michael Cohen, and you're listening to the Mayor Culper podcast. We begin tonight with a state of the union address for the books.

When last night, President Biden achieved what Kevin McCarthy could never do,

which was uniting the room and getting Republicans to jump from

their seats in support of Medicare and Social Security. Yes, that happened. It was a masterclass,

really, on out-negotiating Republicans, pulled off by Biden, who sparred with a raucous crowd

of Maga hecklers. If you're wondering about President Joseph R. Biden's fitness, I'll tell you, he was ducking

and weaving like a champ on Tuesday when he delivered his best speech to date, the State

of the Union address.

And to you, my fellow Americans, you know, I start tonight by congratulating 118th Congress

and the new Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy. Speaker, I don't want to ruin your reputation, but I look forward to working with you.

The president totally owned the moment.

He started by congratulating Kevin McCarthy in what appeared to be a genuine moment

of respect. Kevin smiled like a rookie who had just been recognized by an old pro. The cheers were heard

throughout the gallery and from both sides of the aisle. It was a beautiful way to start. As we gather here tonight, we're writing the next
