We're still on hiatus for a little while longer, but we had to come back to share some exciting news with you.

Rebecca Mahoney, originator of the finest folktales our show has to offer, and the voice of

Challenger Deep has done something really, really cool. Are you ready?

Rebecca has a book deal! Ah! Okay.

The Valley and the Flood is a beautiful, haunting young adult novel that will be published

in fall 2020 by Razor Bill, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

The Valley and the Flood, a remix of the Odyssey with Shades of Twin Peaks, follows Rose,

whose car breaks down outside of a small desert town, where the people

are bracing themselves for a disastrous flood. Her journey is completely thrown off course when

she discovers that not only is she the prophesized bringer of said flood, but that the key to

stopping it lies in confronting the accident that killed her best friend, and the scars that left

behind.

It's a story about found families, about the difficulty of putting words to trauma,

and about learning to show compassion to the parts of yourself that scare you.

I love this book so much. It's so good, you all. You are not ready, but you're also ready.
