A case that, at its peak, was all the nation was talking about and splashed across almost every front page in 1926. So if you like your

On September 16, 1922, Raymond Schneider and his much younger girlfriend, Pearl Bomber, just 15 years old compared to his 23,

were walking around an old dirt road in New Brunswick, New Jersey, frequently used as a lover's lane.

But before they could begin their romantic rendezvous, they stumbled upon what appeared to be a man and woman lying stretched out underneath a crabapple tree.

The man, dressed in a fine gray suit and tie, had his Panama hat placed over his face,

while the female, dressed in a blue polka dot dress, lay with a woolen scarf around her neck,

and her head tucked gently on her companion's outstretched arm.
