Hopefully we will be able to

gee each other up a bit. We've managed rather well over the last two months. Where would you

like to start today? With the latest example of the increasingly Kafkaesque universe into which

this government insists on leading us? Yeah, okay. If you get tested for COVID-19 and they stick a swab up your nose

and down your throat, that goes into the official statistics as two tests. Yeah, do not adjust your

set. That's a completely true fact. Reported, believe it or not, by the Daily Telegraph,

I've said to you a few times lately that when these stories appear in newspapers that have previously adopted a slavishly sycophantic tone and approach to our

current Prime Minister, then you really know that things are, well, moving into ever more

unprecedented waters. So yes, there is a scientific, there is scientific wisdom to doing two tests in that way,

to doing two separate things, because ideally if they can prove that the saliva tests are as

efficacious as the nostril tests, then it makes life a heck of a lot easier for everybody,

because the nostril tests are pretty unpleasant. But I'm pretty sure that when you and I sat down

to watch the daily

announcements on how many tests had been done, we didn't realize they'd be counting the same person

twice. But here's the really sad thing. Here's the really, really scary thing.
