The US just hit its 5 millionth case of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Congress fails to act to extend the enhanced unemployment benefits they passed

back in March.

So President Trump decided to enact the part to the package his own party has consistently

opposed in the negotiations by executive orders.

Those all over the country are opening up and then promptly shutting back down.

This is America Dissected.

I'm your host, Dr. Abdul-Lasaydin.

We the people in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic

tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and ensure the

blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution

for the United States of America.

That, if you didn't know, is the preamble of the US Constitution.

From its very first line, it is a call to collective action.

But we the people are failing pretty hard right now at stopping this spread of this virus.

Whether it's the rush to open up bars or clubs or schools or the unwillingness to wear

masks in public places or the politicization of this pandemic writ large, it's hard

to imagine something more collectively pressing than a global pandemic that has infected

five million Americans and killed over 160,000 to spur us into that collective action.

Alas, that failure has left almost everyone waiting on a vaccine.

The vaccine that all of us have been waiting for could it be possible that it will come

over the next several months?
