On October 11, 2003, a young woman was killed in a case

that saw a handful of viable suspects, all of whom seemed to have an alibi. So if you like your

Karen Pennell was born in Germany, but graduated from high school in Warner Robbins, Georgia.

A former model and flight attendant, for 12 years, Karen worked for the American Airlines as a

customer service agent. Settling in the quiet town of Oldsmar, Florida, working at the

Tampa International Airport, Karen enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach during her free time.

She was a beautiful woman, 39 years old at the time of our story, and was described as fun-loving

and never afraid to speak her mind.

She was also a woman who had recently gone through a divorce and had gotten out of an

abusive relationship. Things were finally looking up, though, when tragedy struck.

On October 11, 2003, a man named Tim Permanter called 911 and told dispatchers that he was at his girlfriend's home and found her lying on the kitchen floor with wounds peppering her body.

The dispatcher asked if she was still breathing, and Tim said he was too afraid to get any closer.

Police immediately rushed to the scene,

and so did a forensic science specialist named Anna Cox,

who determined that Karen Pinell had been stabbed a total of 16 times
