On October 11, 2003, a man named Tim Permanter called 911 and told dispatchers that he was at his girlfriend's home and found her lying on the kitchen floor with wounds peppering her body.

The dispatcher asked if she was still breathing, and Tim said he was too afraid to get any closer.
