Okay, so goal setting, there's been a lot that has been said about goal setting over the years

and if you ever have read a personal development book, chances are you've seen something

on goal setting.

Different philosophies, different perspectives, but not all of them are evidence-based.

And so today I'm going to share some research by one of the leading researchers on goal

setting, Dr. Gabrielle Eddington, who's a professor of psychology at NYU.

And I think when a lot of us contemplate setting a goal, it's pretty intuitive that we

need to first figure out what the goal is, be excited about the goal, maybe create a plan

for achieving that goal.

And then there's also this feeling like we really need to think positively.

And this is often a common narrative of just focus on the positive, focus on the positive,

keep your eye on the prize as a way of helping to manifest it or to continue to move

forward.

And that can be helpful for activating initial motivation, but it's not very useful when

it comes to the inevitable obstacles that arise in pursuit of our goals.
