Nick Wilson, let me start Nick with the quick bio, is the senior director

for gun violence and prevention at the Center for American Progress and the Center for American

Progress Action Fund. For those of you who don't know, the Center for American Progress is a good

independent, nonpartisan policy outfit dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through

progressive ideas in my day. We'd call it a good progressive think tank. Before Nick was there,

he was the associate director of policy planning and coordination

at the Baltimore City Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement.

He's a UCLA grad, also a grad of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

Hey, Nick, brother, thank you for coming on.

Good to see you again. Thanks for having me. You as well. I, uh, every week is different. Sometimes I get people on here and we, you know, I, uh, I mean, I'm kind of weird politically these days, but

sometimes I'll get a mega devotee on and

we'll just talk broadly about everything we disagree with. Sometimes I'll get people on from the

left and we'll do the same. I've been obsessed with beginning to have conversations about very specific issues to try to,

because I think, Nick, I think there's so much like misinformation on all sides about certain issues.

What I wanted to talk to you about was this concept of an assault weapons ban.

And focus on that. What is it? What would it mean? What's the good and the bad? You and I disagree on it.
