Anthony talks about a remarkable example of terminal lucidity.

I wanted lastly to ask you about this thing of terminal lucidity, where there's people who

may have really advanced Alzheimer's and their brain is not capable of

consciousness but they seem to come back close to death and they're their normal selves. Fascinating.

Peaking Darian experiences as they are technically known, taken from the Keats poem, a view from

a hill in Darien, I think, I think it was Keats.

And it's the idea that when you are approaching death, you can see further.

You can see a new world.

But on top of that, people seem to become lucid, and I'm going to tell you a tale now that

was witnessed by me and my wife regarding my own mother.

She had been ill with terminal Alzheimer's for about two years, and for the last six months before this incident of place, she was non-communicative.

She was effectively like a baby.

You know, she was in mid-90s,

no communication.

She was just in a coma state, really.
