I used to be the department head in North Carolina State

until I got tired of meetings and retired.

What type of department head were you?

I left everybody alone as much as possible.

Bob Petters has taught in the music department at North Carolina State University for almost 50 years.

He used to conduct the orchestra there and the concert band.

Now he heads up a different kind of music group.

It's much different than most orchestras. For one thing there is no attendance policy.

All we ask players to do is let me know if they can't come

so we don't put a chair down for them. The orchestra is called The Really Terrible Orchestra of the Triangle. The Triangle
