Hello everyone and welcome back to the Viking Age podcast. My name is still Lee and this is a quick update episode on what's going on with the podcast and what the plan is going forward.

So it has been far too long since our last episode and I really apologize for that. But I wanted to just record this

quick episode to let you guys know why it's been so long what what the plan is going forward, and hopefully get you all as excited as I am for a wonderful summer full of the Viking Age.

So, since our last episode, I've been going through what I can only describe as

podcast burnout. I've had a very busy schedule and every time I sat down to work on a show I just

wasn't excited about it and the end result wasn't something I was proud of or something that I wanted to record because I didn't

feel like it was up to the standard of this podcast.

So instead I decided to take a little time off to regroup, think about the show, do some wide-ranging reading,

and hopefully come back, refreshed and ready to make this show better than ever.

And I think I've been successful in that.

I have a pretty great episode written that I'm going to record right after this

and I'm very excited for a bunch of future ideas.

So in that way, mission accomplished.

However, I'm too much of a web developer to leave it there.

I wanted to know why this was happening and what I could do to prevent it in the future.

Because frankly, I don't ever want to go more than a month between episodes again.

And what I came up with was that the episodes we've been doing have been pretty intense.

They're very theoretical.

They cover issues of religion and worldview,

which require a lot of research to get right.

There's a lot of primary sources, a lot of secondary sources, and a lot of collating in trying to craft a story out of fairly disparate pieces.

And don't get me wrong, I love this.
