Summary

Several questions, actually. Who is the woman behind the red lacquer mask, and more importantly, what is she doing? Is she using a glass candle to speak to Dany? What does she mean by to go east you must go west and the rest? And perhaps most important of all, why does she repeatedly tell Dany to be a dragon? Our best answers within.

The The Prophecy is a central feature of a song of ice and fire.

0:52.3

Many of the major plot lines are steeped in it,

0:55.4

and so are many of the minor plot lines. But of all the POV characters, there's really no

1:01.0

contest when it comes to which character is the most embroiled in prophecy, and that is

1:06.6

DeNaris Targaryen. You could argue that Melisandra is more involved since it's basically her

1:12.2

entire purpose. It's the only thing that really matters to her. And Danny doesn't actually even

1:18.0

really know about the others yet. She's only dimly aware of the long night at most. But given that

1:24.1

she is the person referred to, the prophecies center around her, a lot of them do.

In this episode, we focus on someone who might have more pieces than anyone else, or at least

1:48.3

is well positioned for those pieces of knowledge to matter a lot.

1:54.6

And that's Quayth of the Shadow.

1:57.1

Someone who has a lot in common with the just mentioned Melisandraandra, yet with not more certainty, but more accuracy, right?

2:04.6

And by that I mean very simply, Stanis is the wrong guy.

2:07.6

DeNaris is the right gal.

2:10.6

Yet by the same token, we have a lot more idea of what Melisandra is up to.

2:15.6

We've been in her head, we've had a POV chapter, she's appeared

2:18.6

quite a lot. Quayth is a lot more mysterious. How, for example, does she keep speaking to Danny

2:24.9

from afar? And why? Is she really just helping with no ulterior motive? Really? Maybe.

2:31.9

It's possible, but it's not easy to accept without strong evidence. That's a tough
