On May 2nd, 1996, a man was arrested after bragging about his crimes to an acquaintance.

A man who may, or may not, be one of the most prolific serial killers in Chicago history.

During the 1990s and 2000s, there was an active serial killer terrorizing the south side of Chicago,

an area inhabited predominantly by minorities and other marginalized groups that the media

had dubbed the Southside Strangler, murders that totaled

well into the hundreds. Later established to be the work of not one killer but many, one of

those individuals was a 28-year-old man named Gregory Klepper, who, unable to keep his mouth shut, was arrested on May 2, 1996,

after boasting about his crimes to an acquaintance. According to the sources, when police arrived

to place him in handcuffs, Gregory said, I knew it was just a matter of time. I'm glad it's over.
