My friends, over the weekend, I had a burst of inspiration. Let me tell you more about that.

I had the immense honor, and I really mean that, the profound honor of delivering the commencement

address for the class of 2003 at my alma mater, St. Louis University. As I watched the graduates

enter the arena full of excitement, intrepidation, and nerves, and ultimately hope, I could

not help but think back to my own graduation,

which, let's be honest about it, was a bit of a miracle, a miracle that they actually let me graduate.

That's the fact. Somehow this high-spirited, but academically unmotivated kid had graduated university.

Miracles happened.

Another miracle appeared the night of graduation.

I never had dated in grade school, nor in middle school, nor in high school.

And the drought continued for four years during college.

But graduation night, the drought ended.

It rained.

The miracle of love appeared, people.

Consider for just a moment what she might have looked like.

Shut your eyes just for a moment.

If you're driving, pull over first,

and consider for a moment what love looked like that night for me.
