Welcome to a special preview episode of Acts of the Blood God.

I am your host, Kat Bailey, and this is a look at our Pantheon of the Blood God episode in which we take a look at Final Fantasy 8.

Pantheon of the Blood God is our patron-only series that happens every single month. We've done Skies of Arcadia. We've done Lufea 2.

And this month we are doing Final Fantasy 8.

Each month we select a game through voting.

And then we play through that game with the community over on our Discord.

And then finally, once we are all done, we talk about the game.

We go through its best moments

we talk about its development history we argue about it a whole bunch and then we decide whether it

deserves to be in the pantheon of the blood god this one is particularly fun because

Alex Donaldson from RPG site joins us. He's a Final Fantasy expert.

He has a lot of really interesting insight into this episode.

And it's also fun because Nadia and I argue quite a bit about Final Fantasy 8.

So without further ado, why don't we have a quick listen to this episode so that you have an idea of what to expect. I can just imagine people who were like picked up Final Fantasy 8 thinking, oh man, I can't wait to find out what happened to Cloud and Tifa and what the hell is going on.

And even more so here, right? Because like I say, this was the second major Final Fantasy game to ever come out.

So I remember reading about this exact issue in some issue or another of official PlayStation magazine.

I remember reading about how they were trying to explain and convey that this was a completely different thing.

And I think that Final Fantasy 7 was so beloved and so impactful that it just overshadowed Final

Fantasy 8.

I saw a headline when I was doing research along the lines of kind of the middle child syndrome

suffered by Final Fantasy 8, where it was just always going to be compared against

one of the most important games of all time.
