Summary

In this special crossover episode, Michael Gungor shares an intimate reflection from his new Loving This podcast series, Magnificat — a journey through the songs, symbols, and spiritual questions behind his latest album.

This episode centers on Mary — the divine feminine, the cosmic mother, and the presence of love that births the world again and again. Through story, song, and meditation, Michael explores how the archetype of Mary lives in all of us — as compassion, surrender, and creative power.

It’s both a return and a beginning — a bridge between The Liturgists and what’s emerging next.

Stay tuned for a new season of The Liturgists coming early next year: conversations with voices that help us feel a little less alone.

Hi everybody. Michael Gunger here. I'm so glad that you're here. And what a fun thing to reopen

0:10.5

the Liturgist podcast feed. It's been a minute. It's been a couple years at least here

0:16.3

of hibernating with the liturgist podcast feed. And for a lot of us, this liturgist podcast has been like really sacred ground.

0:26.4

And I just, I've been waiting to see if and when it felt alive again to kind of reopen it.

0:33.9

Because I think things have changed a bit from when we started the podcast

0:39.7

over 10 years ago now. When we started it, there wasn't a whole lot happening around like

0:45.2

the space, you might call the deconstruction space now where people were asking questions

0:50.0

about their beliefs and feeling like, oh, can we actually talk about this online?

0:54.3

Because I'm scared about talking about this in my in-person communities.

0:58.7

And so a lot of us went through a lot, you know, a lot with this group, with each other,

1:05.3

with this podcast, helping us ask questions and talk. And a lot of us have been able to leave

1:12.4

some of those oppressive communities and belief systems that we felt really limited by.

1:19.7

But what I've noticed in myself and my friends and even just at large in our culture

1:24.6

is a lot of us are just sort of wandering around really lonely now

1:29.5

and looking for connection, mostly through our screens.

1:34.3

But I wanted to do a season, I thought a cool liturgist podcast season would be exploring

1:40.3

how to be less alone.

1:43.5

Like who are the people that are doing work and creating spaces

1:47.3

that help us feel less alone in this crazy environment that we're in right now?

1:52.6

So we'll be telling you a lot more about that in the coming weeks.

1:56.2

I do want to say we are trying to make this next season a visual season as well we'd like to bring this podcast

2:03.5

to youtube and also have some ideas for things that we could make during this next season that
