I want us to take time today to pray for our sisters and brothers who are experiencing intense persecution.

So as we begin, let's take a deep breath and quiet our hearts as we enter into God's

presence together.

Today's reading comes from Hebrews, Chapter 13, verse 3. Remember those in prison, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated

as though you yourselves were suffering bodily.

Let's begin by reciting God's goodness, praising Him for who he is, for what is true about him,

even in the most difficult circumstances.

Precious Jesus, you are the king of kings and the lord of lords and even when global and political tensions break our hearts Lord Jesus we claim that you are the one who reigns over this earth.

You are the one who sits enthroned in heaven. And you are the one who sees and knows and hears every

broken cry. You are the head of your church, and when one part of the body suffers,

you suffer as well. You are the one who said to Saul, why are you persecuting me?

So Jesus, we praise you that even though our hearts break for our brothers and sisters who are

suffering persecution right now, you're the one who is with them, your own spirit alive in them

and they are not alone. Jesus, you enter into their suffering with them.

And so I thank you for bearing our own wounds in your body,

for being ever close to those of us who are mistreated or maligned for your name.

Jesus, we praise you that you never leave us.

You never forsake us.

That you are not one to run away from trouble and hardship, but you are the good shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep.
