Psalm 3 verse 3 says,

But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts my head high.

There are so many temptations in the wintertime to feel discouraged, isolated, and sad.

It can become easy to believe the lies that the enemy sins our ways when it is cold and dark for longer periods of time.

It is easy to put our heads down and live in the winter blues. However, Psalm 3-3 reminds us that the Lord

is a shield around us in our glory and the one who lifts up our heads high. When I picture

our King Jesus lifting my head up, a head can be down because of shame, discouragement, or depression.

However, King Jesus lifts our heads, and when our heads are lifted, we see his face.

When our eyes are fixed upon Jesus, our identity and perspective are secure and confident

in him.

The temptation to stay in a pit of despair or defeat melts away because we are reminded

of our victory and confidence in him.

When we feel defeated and ashamed that we cannot seem to get out of the sadness and loneliness,

he lifts our eyes to him where our help comes from, as he helps us to find our

way again. Maybe you need prayer for joy this winter. It might be a time that reminds you of

losses and grief. It may be due to unforeseen circumstances this year. It might just be the

time of year when you are not getting enough
