A Prayer for Finding Balance by Christine Brown, read by Leah Martin.

0:22.4

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health as

0:29.0

it goes well with your soul. Third John 1 verse 2. Looking at my calendar for the

0:37.6

week, a familiar heaviness settles into my stomach. I've done it again, not

0:44.7

intentionally, but when those last few requests came in for one more phone call,

0:50.1

one more meeting, one more event, I said yes. Now I'm regretting it with every

0:58.9

thing in my being. The only way out was like a familiar tune I sing to myself

1:52.4

park, but not so much when it's real life. If only I could learn to move with

1:59.3

steady assurance instead of full speed ahead, if only I could find balance in life.

2:08.5

Let's look at third John 1 verse 2 again. Beloved, I pray that all may go well

2:16.2

with you and that you may be in good health as it goes well with your soul. In

2:22.4

this opening to his friend, Gaius, John makes a statement about the connection

2:26.7

between our physical health and spiritual health. We can work diligently for the

2:32.6

Lord, our families and our jobs with the best intentions, but every go-getter

2:38.2

knows. When we don't stay centered on God, we will find ourselves overloaded.
