The thanks be to God who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession

and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere.

2 Corinthians 2.14

Paul's words ring of celebratory notes of excitement and following Christ and the

task of spreading the good news of the gospel.

But we know, Paul suffered immensely.

He was jailed, beaten, bitten by a poison of snake, shipwrecked, the trials he endured

were immense.

Yet his tone suggests the joy of the Lord, which was undoubtedly the source of his

strength to carry on through trying seasons.

Paul wrote,

For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the

procession, like those condemned to die in the arena.

We've been made as spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to

human beings.

1 Corinthians 4 and 9

Why would Paul and the other disciples put themselves through such harsh

treatment?

Knowing full well, it could always get worse.

Perhaps this text Paul wrote to the Sith.
